Phnom Penh (28 August 2022) - Award-winning Cambodian real estate developer, Urbanland is hosting, “Chankiri Baitong” — ‘planting the seeds’ for an environmentally friendly mindset and an ideal quality of life right from the start at its Chankiri Palm Creek in the south of Phnom Penh by holding a tree-planting ceremony even before the development is ready to move in.

With better living, quality of life and green surroundings becoming increasingly important for Cambodia’s discerning homebuyers, Urbanland has hosted a tree-planting ceremony intended to ‘build a strong foundation’ for Borey Chankiri and its community as a lush ‘green’ environment offering pleasant surroundings and an ideal quality of life.

With this in mind, Chankiri homeowners turned out to plant 30 trees this past weekend. Urbanland Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hok Kang also took part in the tree-planting ceremony.

“We focus on parks and public spaces to build a greener community. At Borey Chankiri, we intend to plant 1,200 plants with 80% of them being native plants at Central Park and also along palm creek outside our Borey,” said Urbanland Chief Executive Officer Hok Kang.

“This Central Park will become the core of our property when our community moves in next year. This is a very joyous moment for me when our community joins hands to personally plant trees for the future. Thank you for believing in Urbanland and being part of this journey since the very beginning.”

Chankiri Palm Creek by Urbanland is an award-winning residential landed property ‘borey’ development. One of the key features is Chankiri’s Central Park, which is a space that is intended to create a community feels with specially crafted parks and green spaces to allow the community to meet with fellow neighbours, friends, and loved ones so that they can enjoy moments together.

Chankiri’s Central Park is thoughtfully designed to allow for various activities for the residents of all ages from walking and playing outdoor badminton, to enjoying the kids’ playground and appreciating a man-made waterfall with a fishpond. There will also be 35 different species of local plants - 23 of which are native plants carefully selected by Urbanland’s landscape designer.

Embedded in the master plan, there are also three main layers of tree canopy – from emergent to canopy to under-canopy - likening the area to that of a natural rainforest. In addition, homeowners can come together to grow their own fruits and vegetables - teaching their children about nature and a sense of togetherness centered around the common interest of growing fresh produce.

Chankiri's homeowner Hokchiek believes that home is part of life - when we choose a home, it represents us and our lives.

He continues that he and his family are delighted to be part of this exciting journey and join the tree-planting ceremony at Borey Chankiri's Central Park, to plant beautiful trees for his community, friends, and family in the near future.

Chankiri Palm Creek’s inaugural tree-planting ceremony is the first of a number of events that award-winning Cambodian real estate developer, Urbanland, has planned for the borey to promote community spirit and neighbourliness among homeowners. Other events include joint CSR activities and gatherings.

Urbanland’s intention at Chankiri Palm Creek is to set an example and lay a strong foundation for Cambodia’s younger generations to create a greener and more sustainable community to promote ‘better living’ where people can slow down, spend quality together and escape the chaotic demands of the city. At Chankiri Palm Creek, Urbanland is already achieving that objective.
